Passive Safety - Jerol Traffic Signal Posts

Structural Properties

The impact absorbing Jerol traffic signal posts have a polymer composite shaft, which consists of two layers, an inner fibre reinforced polymer composite and an outer layer of
tough polyolefin. The company have successfully crash tested a range of traffic signal posts
at Helsinki University of Technology to ensure that all products comply with BS EN 12767.

Full crash test certificates are available upon request.

Ramp Metering Schemes

The posts have already been extensively used on variety of Ramp Metering Schemes instigated by the Highways Agency. These schemes have been used successfully to
regulate the flow of traffic at motorway slip roads, so as to improve the flow of traffic
on the main carriageway.

Electrical Connection

To comply with UK regulations, passively safe posts which have an electrical connection
must be fitted with a suitable disconnection system. Typical systems are shown in the Jerol Installation Method Statement, which is available upon request.
