The impact absorbing Jerol signposts have
a polymer composite shaft, which consists
of two layers,
an inner fibre reinforced
polymer composite and an outer layer
of tough polyolefin.
The posts are manufactured in Sweden by a patented process from
glass fibre composite, and comply fully with the latest European
standard on passive safety, EN12767. The process is fully computer
controlled ensuring that the highest standards of quality control
are maintained.
The construction is extremely durable, being weather and
UV-resistant, and service life
is estimated to exceed 60 years. As the
shaft material is an electrical insulator, no earth bond is required.
The posts are designed and certified to fully comply with the wind
load classification and relevant deflection criteria contained in
BS EN 12899-1. Design check certificates and data sheets are
available on request.
The sign posts have been extensively crash tested
at Helsinki Technical University to EN12767. The
university has a reputation as
one of the foremost
test centres in Europe
and all their work has full
3rd party accreditation. Full test certificates
are available.
If required a base compartment is provided, 1.0m
above ground level. The door is manufactured from
stainless steel and is powder coated to match the
colour of the post.
The aperture has a rubber seal
and the door
has a bonded foam lining to provide a
watertight seal and to provide good electrical
insulation.
The posts are available with their own pre-cast
foundation - see separate brochure.
Posts can
also be installed by the more conventional
cast-in-situ concrete sleeved method.
To comply with UK regulations, passively safe posts which have an electrical connection must be fitted with a suitable disconnection system. Typical systems are shown in the Jerol Installation Method Statement, which is available upon request.
The Jerol/Opta calculation programme, which has
been fully verified by independant consultants,
enables users to confirm the type and size of
posts required for any given
sign dimension
and
loading criteria.
The standard finish of Jerol posts and columns
is RAL 7023 Grey, but other colours
are available
to order. Click here to download the full RAL
colour swatch.
A range of “X-tra” grip sign clips is available
for use with Jerol posts. These clips have
a
rubber insert which offers extra grip on
composite posts.
